FEES AND PAYMENTS
The health and welfare of your animal is our prime concern and responsibility. Our policies have been developed to care for your pet whilst complying with the Codes of Practice determined by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate, the Health and Safety Executive, Environmental Health Departments and the Financial Services Authority.
A consultation fee is payable for every veterinary consultation, but may be at a reduced rate if this is a repeat examination or medicine check.
We aim to provide estimates for all our procedures and services, however, unexpected complications may arise resulting in higher costs than estimated. In this instance we will endeavour to contact you to gain authority prior to treatment. If we cannot make contact with you we will give any treatment we deem essential for the animal’s welfare at that time.
You will receive a detailed invoice for every consultation and procedure with us. The payments are to be settled in full at time of consult or discharge, unless prior arrangements have been made with the practice manager.
We accept cash, credit/debit cards and cheques as form of payment. We will not accept post-dated cheques.
If there is any outstanding balance on your account you will be sent a payment reminder and be requested to pay in the next seven days.
Should an account not be settled, we will follow-up with you to resolution.
In special circumstance we can arrange a house visit to treat your animal, however, sometimes we may request that you bring your animal to the surgery if we feel this will be in the animal’s best interest (access to on site equipment etc.)
A house visit will only be available with prior arrangement and will incur an additional fee.
OUT OF HOURS EMERGENCY COVER
How to contact us
D&T Veterinary Centre provides 24 hour cover for all our clients, both large and small animal.
If you need to use our out of hours service please call the normal telephone number, 01889 582023.
Through a recorded message you will be provided with a second number to call which will connect you to an operator who will take your details including your contact number and reasons for call. The operator will alert the vet on call and our vet will contact you directly. Out of hours surcharge will apply should we need to see your animal.
For any hospitalised patients needing overnight care, the on-duty vet will determine the frequency of out of hours checks needed with respect to the clinical needs of each individual patient. While there are facilities on site for staff accommodation, there is no 24 hour continual monitoring cover on a routine basis, but can be offered if the on duty vet deems it necessary. The vet will discuss this with you during the consultation.
We recommend that all our clients take out insurance for their pet. This acts as a safety net to help protect you against unexpected costs related to your pet. Should your pet need to be referred onwards to a specialist veterinary centre this can be expensive, at an already often distressing time. Having your pet insurance enables you to have peace of mind when it comes to the care of your beloved pet.
It is your responsibility to settle all fees with D&T Veterinary Centre, and reclaim these fees from your insurers.
