SCHOOL WORK EXPERIENCE
Donnachie & Townley Veterinary Centre supports local students who are enthusiastic and keen to work in the veterinary field, by providing work experience placements to those students wishing to train as a veterinary nurse or veterinary surgeon.
For health and safety reasons, we can only accept applications from students aged 16 and over.
As a leading vet in the Staffordshire area, our work experience placements are in high demand.
Successful applicants will be invited to complete their work placement during weekdays Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.
You will be expected to come in smart dress (no jeans or trainers) and we would strongly advise smart flat shoes as you will be on your feet most of the day!
“I first came to the practice when I was 16 years old with the desire of becoming a vet. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the experience I made friends for life who ended up becoming my colleagues when I graduated and returned to the practice for my first job as a fully-fledged veterinary surgeon! Who knew that my career would start from this first placement.”
Any student that is unable to gain a placement with us will be offered a tour of the Rugeley practice with our Head Nurse Jo Waldron.
STUDENT VETERINARY NURSE PLACEMENTS
Our Rugeley practice is an RCVS training practice for student veterinary nurses. The student veterinary nurse placements are highly sought after and are very quickly filled.
During the placement, you will be trained on site by our experienced team of nurses and work closely with your clinical coach to allow progression through your college course.
VETERINARY STUDENT EMS PLACEMENTS
We offer mixed EMS placements to veterinary students at our Rugeley branch. We only take one student at a time to ensure great exposure to cases and valuable practical experience. For this reason, please book your EMS placements in advance by contacting Jenny Mitchell at the Rugeley Practice.
